Cozy Literacy Studio provides dyslexia intervention and structured literacy instruction for students in Frisco, McKinney, Prosper, and surrounding communities.
As a former Qualified Instructor (QI), trained in Take Flight at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital, coupled with extensive training and experience teaching with Structured Word Inquiry, The Cozy Method is an approach that benefits every learner.
Using morphology and a multisensory approach, students learn how English spelling actually works — building confidence in reading and writing. Sessions are hands-on, interactive, and include co-investigations and games that keep students engaged and reinforce learning.
About Debbie
Debbie Gilstrap, a native Dallasite, has always had a heart for working with students–especially those who struggle with reading.
Reading didn’t always come easily to me as a child, so I understand firsthand how frustrating it can feel when words don’t make sense. That experience shaped my passion for helping students gain the confidence and understanding they deserve.
Through the work of Dr. Pete Bowers and Structured Word Inquiry, I came to understand our language in a completely different way – one that finally makes sense.
Today, I help students move beyond memorizing rules to truly understanding how words work – so reading and spelling become clear, logical, and meaningful.
Our Philosophy
Syllable-based reading programs do not set students up for long-term success. We believe in teaching the why behind English spelling — not just the rules.
