My Story
A native Dallasite, I have always had a heart for working with students — especially those who struggle with reading. Reading didn't always come easily to me as a child, and I understand firsthand how frustrating it can feel when words simply don't make sense. That experience shaped my passion for helping students gain the confidence and understanding they deserve.
"I know what it feels like when words don't work. That's exactly why I do this work."
After more than 15 years in dyslexia education — spanning public schools · the private sector · and my own practice — I retired — but the passion wouldn't stay quiet. After three years away, I found I simply could not put my love for structured literacy and Structured Word Inquiry at bay any longer. So I came back — this time on my own terms — to create something unique: a program that combines the best of evidence-based practice with the warmth and curiosity that every struggling reader deserves.
Why Cozy Literacy Studio
Cozy Literacy Studio is the only program in the area offering a multisensory, structured approach that roots itself in Orton-Gillingham methodology while evolving through the philosophy and framework of Structured Word Inquiry. This isn't just another tutoring service — it's a complete rethinking of how students come to understand words, spelling, and meaning from the inside out.

What Working With Me Looks Like
Time and time again I have seen students arrive with very low self-esteem — frustrated, defeated, convinced that reading just isn't for them. And time and time again, I have watched that change. When a student works with someone who truly relates to them, who meets them where they are, their self-esteem grows, their confidence builds, and their reading takes off.
The Cozy Method™ is sequential and structured — but it is also warm, playful, and human. In my sessions, students feel comfortable taking risks and making mistakes. I make mistakes too. We laugh together. That's the cozy part.
"Students feel comfortable taking risks, making mistakes — and understanding that I will too. We can always laugh together."
